The shape of things to come…
Happy New Year. The seasonal festivities are over, you have eased yourself gently into 2011, and you are now pro-actively planning for the year ahead and the challenges and opportunities it may, or may not bring – but as usual, there is good news and bad news. Corporate insolvency figures were down in 2010 by 17 per cent, but they are expected to rise again in 2011, according to research by RSM Tenon; HM Revenue & Customs and Companies House have launched a joint filing service for company accounts, but HMRC wants to see full statutory accounts rather than the abbreviated version small companies are used to filing with Companies House; the government has doubled the size of its planned New Enterprise Allowance to encourage start-ups, but the Revenue is planning a crackdown on poor business record keeping. All of this (and more of the same) can make the challenges loom larger than the opportunities, so the IFA has worked with its strategic partners to put together some exciting new membership offerings (see below), and ensure that you have something to look forward to in 2011.
